Lakers Looking To Trade Pau Gasol During NBA Draft

by Jared

Sources told ESPN.com that the Lakers have been contacting teams in an effort to acquire a top-10 pick in Thursday’s draft. The Lakers also are seeking an established player along with the pick if they’re to part with Gasol.

The Lakers might have an even tougher sell with Metta World Peace, who also has been shopped in order to gauge his trade value.

I am in the minority with this whole we have to trade Pau Gasol movement. I get that the Lakers need to shake things up and that Pau Gasol would be the one to go from the team, but he is also the same guy that averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds being the Lakers third option.

I believe this is a terrible move unless they are trading up high enough to draft Thomas Robinson. One major rumor out there is that the Hawks are trying to trade Josh Smith for Gasol. That on the surface sounds good, but everyone will see why it’s a bad idea as soon as Smith decides to take a contested three instead of pass to Kobe. Right now the Lakers are a team influx. Kobe isn’t getting younger, they have no bench, no draft picks and are pinning their future on a guy that is seven feet tall and wants to shoot threes. For the first time in years trouble may be brewing in Los Angeles.
